Creating a Unique and Memorable Wedding Program
In planning a wedding, many couples want to maintain age old
traditions but yet add their stamp of individuality to the ceremony. One unique
and fun way to do this is with the wedding program. Each guest receives one so
it is a simply yet effective way to infuse the ceremony with your personality.
You can look through any wedding stationary catalogue and
find many unique and innovative ideas. Remember a program should outline the
ceremony but nobody says it can’t do so with flair.
One unique idea is to find programs that are an unusual
shape. Typically programs are rectangular and portrait in shape but you can
find programs that are square, maybe with rounded edges or even in other
shapes. One idea if you plan to have an outside summer wedding is to create
programs that are shaped like fans. You can also do programs that open like a
book or flip upward.
Another way to impart your personality is through color.
Classic black and white or silver can be very elegant and great for an evening
wedding. Choosing colors you use for your wedding party can help pull together
your color theme.
Pictures and graphics can also create uniqueness. If you’re
having a destination wedding on the beach, you might choose to put a beautiful
beach scene on the program. Perhaps if you are having a wedding in Las Vegas
you might want your programs to reflect images or shapes consistent with casino
games. Also, putting photos of the wedding couple is nice and can often tell a
story. Maybe you would like to encourage a less formal atmosphere…you can add
to that feeling by choosing programs that are less fancy and feel more relaxed.
Lastly, consider letter font. Just by changing the font of
your programs you can easily go from informal to formal or vice versa. Writing
some fun information you would like to share with guests, such as how you met
can be add a very nice touch.
For the really unique, consider putting small envelopes of
fragrant lavender, flower petals, or confetti inside the programs for the guest
to shower you with as you leave for your honeymoon.
Whatever style you choose try to stick with something that
is consistent with you personality and taste. After all, it is your wedding and
should be a direct reflection of you.
