"Decoding The Many Names Of Panties!"

Have you ever been to a lingerie store and tried to pick out the “right” pair of panties? There are so many to choose from all the way from granny panties to g-strings. You can get all kinds of colors and fabrics and it seems like the styles never end. How in the world can you determine which one to buy? Here is some valuable information to demystify the many names of panties and insure that you are panty educated before your next purchase!

  • Brief – This is probably one of the most basic and well known types of panty. Its waistband sits at or near the waist and usually provides fuller coverage in the back. Typically, the connotation of brief is not very sexy; however, may styles have come a long way and can be quite attractive and very comfortable.
  • Bikini – This is probably the next most recognized style of panty.  The panty waist is usually below the waistline. Coverage in the back is less than the brief but still relatively full. A basic bikini usually has a thicker band around the hips, while a sting bikini boasts thin elastic strips around the hips. Bikini panties are often considered a bit sexier than the brief.
  • Low-Rise – These are just a term used for a panty that sits well below the waistline and hips. Any style of panty can have a low-rise cut. These are obviously the best choice when wearing low-rise pants or skirts.
  • Boy Shorts or Cheeky Panty– These terms are often used interchangeably and denote a panty that has more coverage on the sides through the hips and less coverage on the cheeks of the bottom. These can be very comfortable when chosen in a soft fabric, yet sexy at the same time. They have become very popular recently.
  • Laser-cut or Seamless – This type of panties just refers to the way the material of the panty is cut.  Any panty can come in this style. They provide a smooth finish that prevents panty lines.
  • Tap Pant – This is a style of panty not often spoken. It is usually made of a sexy, feminine material and offers more coverage all over. They look a lot like the shorts a tap dancer use to wear, hence the name. These are great for a woman that wants to look and feel sexy but is not comfortable in some of the lesser coverage panty styles.
  • Thong or G-string – This is a style of panty that leaves the cheeks of the bottom exposed. Some have more fabric in the back then others, but ultimately they provide the least amount of coverage of all the panties. They are great if wanting to avoid panty lines.
